Invited competition win to enhance the emerging cultural and performing arts programme . . .

Morphis has been appointed as the landscape architect as part of the competition winning team in collaboration with Danish architect, Henning Larsen, for the new 1000-seat multi-purpose auditorium at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). HKUST is an international research university, whose hillside campus overlooks the Clear Water Bay peninsula, about 30 minutes from central Hong Kong.

Morphis partner, Mark Blackwell, adds ‘We are delighted to be working with Henning Larsen on this exciting opportunity, a contemporary symbol for HKUST and the student community. The public realm will enhance the emerging cultural and performing arts programme to foster a sense of community and well-being. We are developing a design approach which responds to the contextual natural woodland and topography interpreted in a unique campus setting, linking the Multi-Purpose Auditorium with the lower parts of the University as part of a coherent and continuous green journey.’ Photograph copyright © HKUST.
